top computer case fan is making weird clicking noise?
when I turn on my computer, my top 200mm fan starts to make rapid click sounds but it subsides during start up.
Everything else seems to work fine but the clicking is getting annoying
Is this a problem? and whats causing the sounds in the fan??
P.S: I dont think my fan can be replaced easily (Antec 900 case)
and I suspect that it might be a problem with the ball bearings in the fan
It isn’t the ball bearing on the fan. when they start to go you know it. they don’t make noises and then die down. they will make a constant howling noise until they freeze.
You can try putting a dab of baby oil in the bearing caseing. just make sure you have a good angle at the ebaring and only use a drop.
The fan might have just a little duts that settles near the bearing when off and takes a few econds to move it away, this would account for the noise.
So, try the baby oil, that should fix it . Stear away form wd4, it isn’t thin enough for high speed bearings.
