What is the best competitor to the iPad?

I am interested in buying a tablet pc, but everything I found on the internet isn’t even out yet. (like the HP Slate, or Dell mini 5) or are more like a netbook than anything. The closest thing i found to what I want is the Archos brand tablets, but I’ve heard that they aren’t so good. The Archos 9 looked perfect for me, runs windows 7, all touch screen, and portable, but I’ve heard the touch screen sucks and that would just create a huge hassle. So what do you guys suggest is the best tablet pc compared to the iPad, cuz the iPad is just too spendy and not enough functions.

At the moment there isn’t much. You’re going to have to wait a couple months. I’ve read that a lot of tablets are going to come out in Q3-Q4 of 2010. There is going to be a German (Android) Tablet that will run for about $285. Just look for a tablet with AT LEAST 1 GHz clockspeed, ARM 8 or ARM 9, and 512 MB of RAM, and Android 2.1 (or later) or Windows Mobile 7. Custom ROMs just mess with the original OS, so you might want to look and companies with established recognition. I just love Android and where Google is going with it, so I’m geared towards it. But if you don’t really care, then look into Windows Mobile tablets.
